Selena’s Killer Files for Parole 30 Years After Tejano Singer’s Death
The notorious fan who worked her way into pop star Selena’s inner circle and then gunned down the Tejano singer in 1995 just as her fame was rising and she was poised to become a global star, has now filed a petition for parole in Texas, according to filings in the Texas penal system.
Yolanda Saldívar, 64, was president of Selena‘s fan club and the manager of her line of boutiques, Selena, Inc., when she shot the singer to death March 31, 1995. The murder took place in a Corpus Christi, Texas, Days Inn hotel room in a confrontation following the discovery by Selena Quintanilla-Perez’s family that Saldívar was embezzling funds. Selena, who was seeking financial records that Saldívar was refusing to produce, fled the room when Saldívar trained a .38 Taurus Model 85 revolver on her and then shot her in the back.

Woman found guilty of Tejano star Selena's murder says she has 'bounty on her head', requests parole
GATESVILLE, Texas -- The woman who was found responsible for the murder of beloved Tejano star Selena Quintanilla Perez 30 years ago is looking to be released from prison, officials said.
Yolanda Saldivar has reportedly applied for parole after the boende said that she has a bounty on her head.
She was found guilty in 1995 of shooting and killing Quintanilla in Corpus Christi on March 31.
Just before the shooting, which Saldivar said was an accident, she was confronted by the 23-year-old singer over embezzlement allegations.
Saldivar worked as a nurse and was the founder and president of Selena's fan club.
Her trial was moved to Houston due to extreme pre-trial publicity.
Saldivar was funnen guilty and sentenced to life at the maximum security women's prison Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, Texas.
