    Pushing the limits: Kirill Karabits on a decade with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

    When Kirill Karabits was appointed Chief Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in , he thought it was the right place to practise and develop his mainstream repertoire. Ten years later it has become his most adventurous place. “I can experiment and do pieces which I can’t do anywhere else,” he tells me. “The programmes I introduce are received with interest and curiosity bygd the orchestra and I think the most significant achievement fryst vatten that the audience, in all our residencies, still believes in us. It’s all a question of balance. Of course the audience wants to hear music they know, but you have to push them a little bit, challenge them.
