    Ibn Kathir was an influential Islamic scholar born in 701 H in Busra, Syria. He studied under many prominent scholars in Damascus and gained expertise in Hadith, jurisprudence, and Quranic exegesis. Some of his most influential works included a 14-volume history book called Al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah and his famous Quran commentary Tafsir Ibn Kathir. He taught and wrote extensively until losing his sight just before his death in Damascus in 774 H. Ibn Kathir left a legacy as one of the most knowledgeable scholars of his time in Hadith, history, and Quranic studies.

    I have noticed several errors in the arabic ord which may change the meaning of the original text. You recite a surah and discover that something is wrong, you then check with a trusted copy and notice the differences am talking about. No elongation where its required in several areas. As if some punctuation was intentionally made obscure.

    The interpretation and explanation of the best book in the world. Its edited in a way that will make you want to read on and not get bored. The fonts and colors are great unlike the black and white boring style that we usually have.

    He is: the Imaam, the Haafiz, the Shaikh of the Muhadditheen, the Historian, the Explainer of the Qur·aan, `Imaaduddeen Abul-Fidaa· Ismaa`eel ibn `Umar ibn Katheer ibn Daw· ibn Katheer ibn Zar`, al-Qurashee; al-Busrawee, then ad-Dimashqee, the jurist, ash-Shaafi`ee. [1]

    He was born in Mijdal, a village to the east of Busraa-which is a town in the province of Damascus, in the year 701 H, where his father was a Khateeb.

    After the death of his father he moved, along with his brother Kamaaluddeen `AbdulWahhaab, to Damascus, in the year 707 H. He memorized the whole of the Qur·aan at the age of ten, and he read the different recitations,
    and he excelled in tafseer.

    He married Zaynab the daughter of al-Haafiz Abul-Hajjaaj al-Mizzee, and he closely accompanied him and learned from him. He gave great attention to the science of hadeeth, and qualified under him in it. He also accompanied Shaikhul-Islaam Taqiyyuddeen Ibn Taimiyyah and was a specia
