Mallence Bart-Williams was born in Cologne (Germany) from a German mother and a Sierra-Leonese father. Her father, Gaston Bart-Wiliams, was a writer activist and the first film director of Sierra Leone. After the ten year long civil war in Sierra-Leone, she was finally able to revisit to her father’s country in , where she met street children from the notorious Lion Base Gang. She felt compelled to do Something and eventually founded the creative collective Folorunsho with 21 street kids. Their design collaborations were sold internationally and with the proceeds the kids were able to go to school and pay for school fees accommodation, etc Mallence is a multifaceted creative social entrepreneur and has explored the realms of writing, publishing, bio making, creative direction and mode design among other things. In episode 11 of 'Black Broads Abroad' I interview Evita Turqoise Robinson. Evita has always been a creator in visual media. Yet, it was a trip to Paris, six weeks after graduating from Iona College, that changed the scope of her personal and professional life.
In September , she created the NOMADNESS Travel Tribe, an online social community primarily for travelers of color. NOMADNESS was the first of its kind targeting black and brown millennials, in the newly coined 'black travel movement'. The group currently surpasses 23, international members, with over , passport stamps.
