    Wellford Academy PTO is excited to host our 2nd Annual Valentine's Day Candy Gram Fundraiser! Parents, grandparents, and students may purchase a Candy Gram to send to students and staff at our school! All Candy Grams will be delivered Thursday, February 13th. Order form and payment must be turned in to your child's teacher by Friday, February 7th. Order forms will be sent home with students this week.

    Boys Basketball

    With winter just around the corner, the boys basketball team has decided to kick off their season. While the boys are working hard in practice, the cheerleaders are also preparing to cheer the boys on through their wins and their losses. The boys have their first game on Saturday December 11th at noon against the Midway-Minto Mustangs. The boys would love to see the stands filled with their adoring parents, family, and friends cheering them on to victory. After a tough season last year, the Tornadoes are ready to bounce back and be stronger than ever. Good luck to the boy’s basketball team and the cheerleaders! So far the boys basketballs wins are  5-7. This years seniors are Caden Demars, Bryson Cleem, Colby Morden, Isaiah Lopez, and Ty Holmquist. Keep working hard guys!

    When should kids begin learning about Martin Luther King Jr.?

    We teach our kids important lessons everyday. My kids learned about Santa and the Easter Bunny at an early age. But I find it odd that they aren’t taught about important historical figures like Martin Luther King, Jr. at daycare.

     

    I have asked teachers in previous years if they program on honoring him, and inom was met with a surprised look. Most recently, I came across a notice at the front desk that read Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and got excited about the kids celebrating the special day.

    I later found out that it was an open invitation for kids who were off from elementary school to spend the day there. inom went as far as speaking to Princess’s teacher about plans for the holiday. She hesitated and responded that she’d planned on it, but was still working on a lesson plan.

    I totally understand that these kids are young. But, are they too young to know who Martin Luther King, Jr. was? Are they too young to know
